Labor Day celebrations began a few days early for one group of post-production employees in Southern California. With a resounding vote, they secured for themselves a voice in their workplace.
On September 2, 2015, in a union certification election conducted by the National Labor Relations Board, Deluxe Culver City's post-production artists and technicians overwhelmingly voted Union Yes. Their election victory ensures that these employees will have union representation through the Editors Guild and IATSE.
The bargaining unit at Deluxe Culver City consists of about thirty post-production artists and technicians. Of the ballots cast, 92% voted in favor of unionization, 8% against.
If you work in a non-union post-production facility and are curious about how to arrange for a vote in your workplace, contact an Editors Guild organizer through the Post, Proud website.
