Crew of "American Grit" Organizes!

Employees in unscripted television continue to demonstrate their grit by organizing! Congratulations are in order for the production and post-production crews of American Grit, a new competition series for Fox produced by ITV's Leftfield Pictures. Because of crew members' solidarity, the new show will be made pursuant to an IATSE contract. The production company and the IATSE reached an agreement over the weekend, without any interruption to the production schedule. In addition to the standard contractual terms, the production crew, working in extreme weather conditions in Washington State, secured important safety provisions. On the New York-based post crew, assistant editors will see dramatic increases in their wages, and all covered employees on the production and post crews will receive employer contributions towards health and retirement benefits.
